Thinking Outside of the Box!

thinking outside of the box 1“You can’t force creatives into a box. If you try, they’ll no longer be creative. And no one will want your box.”

― Ryan Lilly

Every has heard the phrase “Think outside of the box!” before. It seems somewhat simple when you just hear of the idea. It’s just trying to think of ways that are new and different to your usual thinking patterns.

Of course it isn’t as easy as it sounds though.

We’re always told from our childhood to now that if we start thinking outside of the box, we can do anything we think of. Where do you begin though?

When you are feeling stuck in some place in your mind, that’s when it becomes time to start thinking outside of the box. It does not have to be challenging either.

It’s time to play a new role,

– Take a step back first.

Are stuck some where? In an argument, or having some sort of brain lapse? That’s when it’s time to take a step back and review the situation with a new perspective before continuing to push forward.

Well, where do I find this new perceptive?

This is whats amazing about the internet. You don’t need to look at through tons of bookstores to find out how others have handled situations similar to yours. A personal favorite place of mine find a new outlook is TED talks. They have all sorts of stories that are shared on there, some are quite humbling and some can give you that extra perspective you need.

thinking outside of the box 2

I am currently writing a book that has a character who is struggling with psychological issues.

When you are writing a book and creating a whole new person to be a character in it you really have to think outside of the box. You have to put yourself in the role of a new person that in reality, you’ve never even met before.

I have been told that I have to put myself in my characters shoes. And that’s what I’ve began doing.

With everything I do, I will sometimes ask myself in my head “What would my character be doing in this situation?” This has helped me learn more about my characters, and has helped me greatly with writing.

But I never thought I could of this as being something I could use in other situations in life, such as when I’m having a conflict with another person, or when having to make a tough decision. When I began to use these ideas in my life to tackle other issues I realized how thinking outside of the box could help me and everyone around me.

For Example-

When I am arguing with someone, I have started to instantly put myself in their shoes and figure out their side of the story. This has always helped my resolve issues and also realize when I could possibly be wrong.

Other examples and ways to start thinking outside the box-

thinking outside of the box
Asking questions and not accepting everything-

There are so many layers to literally everything. Not everything is as basic as it seems. There details to everything. We all think in simple routines. We get so stuck in thinking patterns that we stop thinking outside of the box. When you begin to break those thinking habits, you unlock a creative part of your mind and that can help with anything.

I have also felt that doing a lot of reading has changed my thinking for the better. A lot of books have changed me and shaped me into who I am.  Reading is a huge motivator for the mind!

I want you all to challenge yourselves everyday to think outside of the box, and hopefully you all will receive the same benefits that I receive from it! Never doubt yourself, or the fact that you have the ability to do anything you put your mind too!

Thank you all so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this article. Please feel free to leave feedback or Contact me here!

Much love,

Rosie

The Toxic Internet: How the internet turned me into something I’m not

toxic internet

How the internet made me into something I’m not and How I got out of it.

This is a weird topic to talk about, isn’t it? Since here I am, on the internet, talking about the internet being toxic. The internet has everything from funny cat videos, to cool stuff, all the way to being able to make new friends. But where do things start heading south?

I started using the internet on regular basis at a young age. I was around middle school age and social media and the internet where still somewhat new to everyone. Online I learned a lot, but with all the freedom I had, and no supervision, I made a lot of mistakes.

Now you must be asking: How can you really make that much mistakes on the internet?

It all started with “Cat-fishing”, Cat-fishing is when you go onto a social media account and pretend to be someone you aren’t by using fake names, pictures and information.

I was young, and my best friend told me to just make a Facebook/Myspace account with a fake name and photos because we where too young to have our own information on our accounts. Looking back on this, I wondered why I even made an account at all. At the end of the day, I was too young and this was an awful idea.

With the fake name and the pictures of a pretty girl on my profile, my friends list started growing rapidly. This made me feel wanted and all the extra attention made me happy at the time. Writing about this honestly makes feel so embarrassed cause I wonder why I did any of this.

Talking to these people online started to create problems. People thought I was older, and lived a completely different life than I actually did.

People would want to meet up, or video chat and for some reason they would get so angry if I said no. Some people were honestly a bit insane and over the top. Someone even called the police on me! But being around 11-12 and a total immature, naive catfish, I had no idea how to handle these situations.

internet

This would continue to get worse as I began to dislike myself even more. Everyone only like the fake me, fake pictures and fake life, but no one cared for the real me. I started to feel awful about myself and every time I looked in the mirror, I hoped I would see someone different than me.

Every morning I’d hope to open my eyes to some great life that was just anything but what I was actually living. I wanted to be perfect.

The internet gave me this ability to become someone I’m not. There was so many influences across the web that told it was okay to continue what I was doing.

So whats the lesson in all this?

I learned how easy the internet makes  it to play a role, and a lot of people do it. Not everyone uses fake pictures and catfish accounts either. Some celebrities edit their photos and make it out to seem like their life is picture perfect. We all want to show the world how interesting and amazing our life is, so we try our hardest. It’s bout amazing and terrifying to see how far we have come with both technology and the internet.

Now that I am much older,

I know how to use the internet in a more positive manner such as my blog and trying to spread positivity with writing. Through my blog I want to continue spreading this positivity. Teaching others how to use the internet as more of a happy place for them has made me happy.

I finally deleted my catfish accounts around age of 13-14,when I started high school and started making real friends. I also realized if anyone actually found these catfish accounts it wouldn’t make me look that good. Doing this made me feel better over time, because I started to feel more like myself and work more on myself.

I realized how something as little has photo shopping your photos can change how you look at yourself. And that Pretending to be someone else can begin to turn you into someone else.

The most important thing to take from this is that not everything online is as perfect as it seems. All the celebrities you know are human just like you and me and their lives are not perfect. Don’t use the internet for attention either, you might just end up even more lonely than you where to begin with.

Be yourself and love yourself. Do things for you not for others. Use the Internet to look for positive role models and happiness.

Much love,

Rosie xo

How do I Take Care of Myself: Journal Prompt

I’m right on time today for this journal prompt! I love this one too-

How am I taking care of myself?self care

If you asked me this question a while back, I would have probably answered with something like “I dunno….Feeding myself everyday”. Now I feel like I can definitely answer this question with way more detail than that.

At one point I really did not know what self care actually was. Honestly I thought it was just simply eating, sleeping, breathing, etc. all the basics that keep you alive.

I never thought of all the thing like exercise, treating yourself, having coping skills, and all of the other ways to care for yourself. I bet I couldn’t have even told you what a “coping skill” was.

Now I have several ways of “self-care” that I use every day such as, writing, drawing, going out for a walk or drawing.

(A lot of creative stuff:) But the options are limitless. As long as you are doing that that make you happy and won’t harm you! Something as simple as eating breakfast every day can be considered self-care.

Everyday I try to wake up at a decent time, and go out and exercise, even if it’s only something that’s small. Doing this has a honestly boosted my confidence quite a bit. Especially when it comes down to how I feel about my body. I try to eat both nutritious and delicious food everyday as well.

self-careBut I try to do something every day that is both fun and relaxing, like sitting down with a book or cuddling a kitten. These two things are definitely my favorite.

The hardest time to care for yourself is usually as school or work but it’s important to remember to give yourself a break from time to time. Don’t neglect your stress or how you are feeling. If you need a minute, then take a minute. Remember that you should always be your first priority

There have been times at work or school where I needed to step outside. I have also brought in a little fidget toy or a coloring books sometimes as well. Doing these little things have made it a lot easier to deal with stress. As well as help the work day go by a little smoother.

I’m still learning a lot about self-care, and through that I’m also learning about myself. I can’t wait to share more tips on this topic and if there is anything in specific that you’d like to know, don’t be afraid to ask!

I have loved writing this journal prompt and I hope you all have enjoyed it as well!

Feel free to leave feedback or contact me!

Much love,

Rosie

Successes and Fails and Dealing with them

Talking about both successes and fails can be kind of a vague topic, but I’m going to try to dive deep and see what’s behind both my successes and my fails. Is it motivation? my mood? Or just pure luck?

successes

Honestly I’m not sure, but I’d like to share to try to motivate everyone out there

I think my biggest success was actually getting out there and starting this blog. I never thought I’d become a writer for a blog, or of any kind for that matter. But here I am writing this post. My 2 biggest fears with starting a blog were, simply failing, or getting judged. I think in my short time blogging, I’ve experienced both, but only on the side of motivation, happiness, and support. Of course I’ve tried writing a post and completely couldn’t do it, or someone has said to me “You have a blog?….why..?”

I’m hesitant to share my posts sometimes, I’m afraid that I’ll be judged. Overtime I’ve learned that most people, if they are true friends of yours, will support you and cheer you on through your journey as a blogger, whether that be big or small.

Another success of mine is learning to be myself. I’ve always have some trouble with this throughout my life. I was bullied as a child, at school and at home. This basically taught me to contain myself in a bottle without causing a bother to anyone around me.

I didn’t learn to express myself until recently. At the time I was fed up and finally moving into a new environment with new people, so I let loose. I went a little crazy at first but soon I got myself together and I found out who I really was inside and what I wanted to make of myself.

If I put all my successes to the side, then I have my fails.

Which honestly are all very little things that somehow manage to bother me throughout the day. Such as saying something embarrassing, or writing a not so great blog post. They aren’t super serious issues but I feel like they add up.

Dealing with the little things can be hard. I’ve learned how to overcome little embarrassments.

The best advice I’ve given myself, which I’ve mentioned in past posts, was that what happens today won’t matter in 10 years. Or possibly even in 2 weeks. I pretty much live by this advice. I seem to embarrass myself quite a lot at times or mess up in tiny ways at work and such. Once I began to realize how after some time these things didn’t matter, I saw an improvement.

I’m proud of myself, how I’ve grown and where I’m going. The biggest thing I’ve realized through my fails and successes was that everything is a learning experience.

I know that we only live once and everything I’ve done, I have learned something. I wouldn’t trad that for anything

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! Feel free to Contact me or leave a comment!

Much love,

Rosie

Top 5 best Articles on Overcoming Mental Illness

download.jpgDo you need a motivation or pick me up? I’ve been searching around the internet for article about overcoming mental illness. I usually like to read these type of stories when I’m feeling a bit down. So I’ve put together my 5 personal favorites and I’m excited to share them. These stories are both motivating and powerful and I hope that you guys enjoy reading them.

  1. Right here is an older story about how a man dealt with his schizophrenia, even though its older it still has the same inpact reading it. Maurizio Baldini’s story

  2. This is a great success story. This person talks about how reaching out to PHS gave them much support. Success story

  3. I love this story. It’s about a family member who should have reached for help. It’s kind of a sad one, but holds a very valuable and strong meaning. Dans story

  4. This short story is on the same website as the last, but very different. They use an accurate metaphor to describe their depression and anxiety. Steph’s story

  5. This blog post is about celebrities who have overcame their mental illness. I think it’s especially important to read celebrity stories because they try to portray their lives as being so perfect, but in reality, just like everyone else, they are people too. Celebrity Stories

I hope that you all enjoyed these short stories. I’m sorry for this article being a bit short, I’m dealing with some computer issues so I had to be a bit quick! But be sure to stay tuned for my journal prompt on Tuesday!

Feel free to contact me Here! And leave any comments or feedback that you wish!

Sending much love to you all,

What would you ask for if a genie granted you 3 wishes?: A journal prompt

Here’s a delayed Journal prompt I’ve owed you guys!7486431222_640d5c139f_b

So, what would I do if a Genie granted me three wishes?

Now I’m not talking about wishing for another three wishes, or getting the genie who rips you off, I’m talking about three genuine things that I would wish for. So what would I want?

  1. A world with no abuse towards animals- This is wicked cheesy but means a lot. I’ve always been an animal person and I can’t stand seeing and animal getting hurt. I would say both animals and people but I feel as if this either would be 2 separate wishes or would just count as this same thing since technically humans are animals.
  2. Better writing skills- This is something that would really benefit my blog. As a blogger, I write a lot, so of course I’m getting my practice. But I wish that becoming an amazing writing would just be something that happens over night.
  3. That I could do things more quickly, but still good- There never seems to be enough time in the day to do everything I’d like to do. I would want time to go by slower, but I would like to be able to do things like chores quicker, so I have more time during the day.

Idownload‘m honestly really interested to see what you all would wish for if you had the chance too. I chose this prompt mainly for the feedback on it, but I thought you guys could also see what I personally believe in, and what I would want for myself. I would honestly love for a genie to come around and grant me my wishes. (but we all would, right?)

Big thanks to everyone reading!! I’d love to hear back with some feedback and what you guys would wish for from a genie!

Love,

Rosie

Journal Prompt: Summer Goals!

imagesHere is my fourth journal prompt! SO excited for this one! And so excited for the summer!

Summer is my favorite time of the year. I’m really not a fan of cold weather (AT ALL!!). So once summer hits, I’m ready for the beach, cold desserts, and the summer fashion!

This prompt I have is simple : What are your plans and goals for this summer?

I had fun planning stuff out when writing this, so I hope you all benefit!

Goals:

  1. Go on a small road trip- I’ve never actually been on a road before. I’m super excited since my boyfriend and are planning on traveling for our 3 year anniversary this June! Cant wait! I’m gonna be the one driving too ;). I’ve never driven too far, so this also might be a learning experience as well as a fun adventure!

  2. Get in better shape- I exercise quite a bit and eat pretty well, but I’ve never been super serious about it. I want to actually get my head in the game and go through a proper workout and meal plan. This will definitely get me in both better mental and physical shape!

   3.  Getting my shit organized- I’m trying to be my own boss, but I have a bad habit of being extremely unorganized with EVERYTHING. But I have created myself a new office space with a desk and a brand new computer! That has made a huge                           difference so far for all my work! So far, so good!

  4. Improve my blogging- I will most likely have way more time this summer to work on my blog since I’ll have less hours at work. Blogging has been a whole new passion of mine that I am making huge plans for! I’m hoping that with my office space, new           computer, and more time, I can start blogging full time! Stay Tuned!!

Sooo…these are all my goals for this summer. I’m so excited to get started on these! If you guys have any goals that you’d like to share in the comments, feel free! It would be great to hear from you all!

Thank you so much for reading!

Rosie <3

Don’t let anyone ruin your day!

7695374602_85bfeeb7f4Something that may be hard
to see is the fact that you have the choice to not let others ruin your day. It’s different to ignore the negative minds of others, especially when they are someone who you are close too.

We all know people who are like this. They simply are just negative and they put all of their bad thoughts onto other people. Sometimes on purpose, and other times they don’t even realize what they are doing. They could just be having a bad day, so they are acting out on their emotions.

But you could be having a great day. And all those little negative comments could slowly ruin your day, to the point where you are miserable. Why does this happen? How can we prevent situations like this?

When you are feeling like someone is bringing you down,

  • You can just tell them kindly something along the lines of: “I’m sorry you feel this way, But I disagree.”
  • you can just walk away.
  • If they are a friend of yours, or someone who you really care about, you could ask them whats wrong and see if you could help. That would be a win-win for both of you!!

But if they do not deserve your time, then don’t give it to them.

Remember if you feel someone negatively affecting you, stop and think about it. Think about whether or not its even worth getting upset over. And remember how you felt before they made any comments. You should never let someone else ruin your mood. Always make yourself your number one priority. download

These people are having their own issues that they have to deal with. You do not deserve to carry their burdens. They arent going to become your problem if you don’t let them become your problem.

Life has it’s up’s and downs. There will be many days and many people like this that you will come across. Once you get into the habit of not letting others bring you down, and you take full control of all your emotions. You will feel so much greater. Your days will be fabulous!

Right now, you should make a promise to yourself to not let any negative people ruin your day. Start off your days with this mindset and things will get better. It can be hard at first, but the effort is always worth it.

“You cannot expect to live a positive life if you hang with negative people.”
Joel Osteen
