Why I started a Blog!

Hello all! I’m excited to share this post on how I started a blog! I’m hoping that I could motivate you all and share a little bit about myself as well!

I started a blog quite randomly, I was looking through Pinterest (My all time favorite social media site!) and I kept seeing information and articles on how to start a blog. I don’t exactly know why these where recommended for me but I ended up doing some research.

I’ve always enjoyed reading blogs and writing often. After doing research on blogging I realized that I might actually enjoy it, especially because I did a lot of writing anyway.

Becoming a better writer-
This can go without saying. Every blogger grows their writing skills throughout time. I loved writing so I would never pass down an opportunity to improve my writing. Having others give feedback and enjoy my writing has done nothing but make me happy!
Networking with people who have the same interests!-
We all love finding those people who love the same exact things we do! i was very much intrigued by the opportunity to grow my network with others and meet new people who enjoy the same things I love. Meeting and talking with other bloggers has been one of my all time favorite things about creating The Optimists Digest. I have found people from all over who relate to me and enjoy my writing. It’s an amazing experience and I will always suggest starting a blog for this reason!
Being an inspiration to others-
I have found so many inspirational blogs and bloggers throughout my time blogging. I love that I could possibly give others the same kind of inspiration that I have been given over the years through reading the stories of others. This is huge for me, I have always loved to see the happiness of others and whenever someone writes to me telling me how I have inspired them, it melts my heart.
Most importantly, Helping others get through the day-
Even the slightest notion that my blog could possibly make someones day better by just a little bit has filled me with joy. When creating The Optimists Digest, my number one priority was to help others. This blog was created to give advice and share positive vibes on every screen it ends up on.

I usually like to read these type of stories when I’m feeling a bit down. So I’ve put together my 5 personal favorites and I’m excited to share them. These stories are both motivating and powerful and I hope that you guys enjoy reading them.

  1. Right here is an older story about how a man dealt with his schizophrenia, even though its older it still has the same inpact reading it. Maurizio Baldini’s story

  2. This is a great success story. This person talks about how reaching out to PHS gave them much support. Success story

  3. I love this story. It’s about a family member who should have reached for help. It’s kind of a sad one, but holds a very valuable and strong meaning. Dans story

  4. This short story is on the same website as the last, but very different. They use an accurate metaphor to describe their depression and anxiety. Steph’s story

  5. This blog post is about celebrities who have overcame their mental illness. I think it’s especially important to read celebrity stories because they try to portray their lives as being so perfect, but in reality, just like everyone else, they are people too. Celebrity Stories

Self Esteem: 10 Simple Ways to Improve the Tarnished Ego

Low self esteem is like driving through life with your hand-break on.

Issues with self esteem is something we all struggle with at some point in out lives. Boosting your self esteem can greatly improve you life all around and is essential to  be successful at finding peace and happiness. If you regularly use these tips, you will definently see a huge difference

1. Focus on the good people in your life-

Remember they love you. Try to cut out all the toxic relationships you may have, they only make things worse.

2. Don’t dwell on past mistakes/regrets-

Everyone does something that they shouldn’t have at some point in their lives. Don’t worry or beat yourself up over those mistakes. Learn to let go and grow from them.

3. Count all your blessings-

Remember to count all your blessings, both big and small.

4. Self Talk-

This is super important and essential to finding peace and happiness in life. Everyone is struggling with their own problems. Focus on loving yourself. You are your number 1 priority.

Follow your passion. Don’t ever worry about what others what you to do, this is something I struggled with for a long time. Just do you.

It’s super easy and simple. Almost too simple. But smiling makes us happy by sending off chemical reaction and releasing endorphin’s into your brain which will surely increase your mood.

Remember, having amazing self esteem doesn’t happen overnight, so don’t get down on yourself for not improving quickly. Just try to use these in yourself daily life and stay optimistic. Be patient and show yourself love.

How to deal with mean friends

Growing up, I didn’t have friends,

……and the friends I had weren’t very nice.

I remember in the sixth grade my mom bought me a cute pair of sneakers. Everyone in class was complimenting me on them. My only ‘friend’ then went up to me and told me she didn’t even like my shoes, that they looked ‘Ice cream’. I wanted to tell her that I didn’t like her shoes either, or just stand up for myself in some sort of way, but I said nothing.

I’ve dealt with that ‘friend’ for a long time, she would bully me, hang out with tons of people who would always insult me and tell her to not talk to me, I was only her friend because I had no one else.

I didn’t actually get out of this relationship until we parted our ways when we got to high school. She completely stopped talking to me. I was disappointed that she stopped talking to me. It took me a long time to realize that I never did anything wrong. Since then, I have had trouble making good friends. I never had any real friend throughout my life, I would settle for anything, even crappy friends. When I first started high school, I start smoking and drinking anything I could get my hands on, this was because I made a whole new group of friends who was part of ‘that’ crowd. Toward the end of my freshman year, in april, I made a decision to start taking care of myself, to make better friends, and to be happy. This was the best decision I ever made.

Now if a friend of mine is rude, I know what to do. I have to grown the confidence to stand up for myself. I also realized that being rude back won’t make anything better. The main thing that you can do is communicate how you feel. Ask them why they are treating you that way. Tell them you do not want to be mistreated. Something that is hard to realize is that if they aren’t willing to admit they are doing anything wrong. Or if they don’t try to put any effort to change their actions, that they aren’t real friends. If they truly cared about you they would want to make sure you’re happy, and that they don’t hurt you.

Something to always remember is that YOU come first. Make sure you are happy with the friends you have. You should never let anyone bring you down. It took me a long time to realize this, but it’s better to have no friends, than fake friends. Nobody deserves to be mistreated. Always remember to stand up for yourself. ❤
